Dr Mohd Fairuz Suhaimi

Scientific Chairman, 55th Malaysian Orthopaedic Association Annual Scientific Meeting 2026

Welcome Address by the President of the Malaysian Orthopaedic Association 2025- 2026

Dear Colleagues,

It is with great enthusiasm that I invite you to the 55th Malaysian Orthopaedic Association Annual Scientific Meeting (MOA ASM 2026), to be held from 25th to 27th June 2026 at the Setia SPICE Convention Centre, Penang.

The theme this year — “AI in Orthopaedics: Precision, Prediction, and Patient-Centered Care” — represents a forward leap in how we understand, teach, and practice orthopaedic surgery. As the boundaries between clinical expertise and intelligent technology continue to merge, the 2026 Scientific Programme has been thoughtfully curated to reflect this transformation.

Our aim is to deliver a balanced and dynamic programme that caters to every participant — from trainees to senior consultants, researchers to industry innovators. Across the three days, you will experience a blend of high-impact plenary lectures, state-of-the-art symposia, case-based learning, and hands-on skill workshops.

We are particularly excited to introduce AI-focused sessions that examine real-world integration into orthopaedic workflows, including imaging analytics, robotic-assisted procedures, digital outcome tracking, and data-driven decision-making. These will be complemented by sessions on core orthopaedic principles, ensuring that innovation never loses sight of patient care.

In line with our commitment to scientific excellence, we continue to provide strong platforms for research dissemination. I urge all members to submit their abstracts and posters, contribute to free paper sessions, and compete for our prestigious awards, including the Mahmood Merican Best Masters Research Award, P. Balasubramaniam Translational Medicine Award, and Subir Sengupta Clinical Paper Award.

Beyond the structured sessions, the ASM will encourage cross-disciplinary collaboration, panel debates, and interactive discussions, ensuring a meeting that is as engaging as it is educational.

We look forward to welcoming you to Penang for a scientific programme that challenges, inspires, and redefines the boundaries of modern orthopaedics.

With best regards,

Dr Mohd Fairuz Suhaimi
